The Department of Labor (DOL) has released information regarding the proposed rule under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) that would increase the standard salary level for salaried exempt employees to $679 from the current $455 per week, on a salary basis. This rule has an anticipated effective date of January 2020.
Why is this important? According to the DOL, the proposed rule is expected to impact more than one million American workers. In anticipation of this change, now is a great time to review your employees’ job descriptions and FLSA classification.
